Even brand new homes may have flaws. However, when you find your dream home, it just makes sense to have it checked out by a professional.

We can help you reduce your risk. We will present you with a thorough evaluation of the present conditions of the home with a comprehensive detailed report that covers deficiences as well as the positive features. This will help you make an informed decision on your purchase.

Our years of experience and hands-on, in-depth training have taught us what to look for in a building structure and its surroundings. Metro Home Inspections also keeps up to date on new construction standards and building materials. We are the first home inspection company to have developed a systematic approach towards evaluating the risks of building envelope failures in condominiums. This experience also has enhanced our abilities to find similar leakage problems in single family homes.

All home inspections are entirely visual–no destructive testing is performed.

• Residential Property Inspections

We specialize in detached houses, townhouses and multi-family dwelling inspections. We look at the roof, exterior, structure, electrical, heating, plumbing, insulation as well as the interior conditions of the house. When we are done, you will receive a detailed written report in plain easy to understand English that we will review with you. We will also make recommendations as necessary.

Clients have advised us that checklist reports do not provide enough useful information. Generally, checklists do not distinguish between serious problems and minor issues.

Nor do we provide big binders with volumes of excess information that can 'weigh' you down literally and figuratively.

Metro Home Inspections has developed a copyrighted report that is both detailed and exhaustive, yet provides important information at a glance. This format was designed for West Coast building construction and wet environment conditions.

• Building Envelope Inspections

Building envelope problems are one of the most common and yet one of the most difficult to properly diagnose and remedy.

When the building envelope is damaged or built incorrectly, problems often begin to appear, such as stains on walls & ceilings, rust & corrosion, foundation moisture, mould & mildew, odours, drafts & cold spots, etc.

While some problems are easy to identify, others are not. They can 'mask' themselves as other issues, 'hide in plain sight' or occur in hidden areas that are not noticed until a lot of the damage has already been done.

Metro Home Inspections has been providing comprehensive building envelope and moisture surveys to Condominium stratas since the early 1990s. We also provide maintenance inspections that help building owners plan their maintenance and repairs.

• New Home Warranty Inspections

While most homeowners can easily point out the cosmetic deficiencies, it takes a professional who is up to date with the current codes to uncover the rest. Detected early enough and properly documented, defects in workmanship can be repaired while they are still covered by the warranty. These are different than a regular home inspection as they are compared against current codes and attempt to anticipate potential problem areas.

Pierre Lacombe, is uniquely qualified as a professional engineer, certified building envelope specialist and a senior building inspector. With this skill set, he is often called upon to review and analyse evidence in legal disputes involving home inspections, building construction and premature failures.
